At 1x, this full-frame field flattener does not change the focal ratio of the Askar 103APO. However, this field flattener provides a flat field suitable for astrophotography across a full frame camera. With this flattener, the edges of the image field remain flat, curvature and coma are minimized, and stars retain their fine points. This is a must-have accessory for astrophotography with the Askar 103APO!
The improvement to the image field of the 103APO when combined with the 1x full-frame field flattener is noticeable, and makes this a must-have accessory for those wanting to use the 103APO for astrophotography. It features M54 and M48 threads which allow connection to a variety of cameras. It also has an internal M48 thread to accept 2" filters to get even more out of your images. The body of the flattener is CNC machined and comes with threaded metal caps for each end that prevent dust or damage to the optics when not in use.
A Full-Frame Flattener for Astrophotography
This 1x flattener features a three lens optical configuration (triplet). At 1x, this flattener does not alter the focal ratio of the 103APO, but provides a flat field suitable for astrophotography. The total weight is just under 1.3 pounds. The front thread of the flattener is M84x1. The camera end of the flattener has M54x0.75 and M48x0.75 threads. There is also a built-in M48x0.75 2" filter thread. The backfocus from the M48 thread is the standard 55 mm. The focal length of the 103APO after installing the flattener is 700.4 mm.
Installation Step One
Installation of the 1x field flattener to the Askar 103APO is simple. Unscrew and remove the 2" and 1.25" adapters.
Installation Step Two
To complete the installation, unscrew and remove the dust cap of the 1x field flattener. Then screw the field flattener into the 103APO. Before attaching a camera, you may also install a 2" filter to the field flattener using its internal M48x0.75 threads.

Thank you Laurence, the unit works very well with the speaker arrangement I have and has a clear sound, it has brought new life to these since my amp blew many years ago. Vaughan
